Water
Turned to wine.
John the Baptist's body turned to silver water in a dark pit.
It ran red
And flowed
Through Jerusalem
To the top of Lebanon
And down again to the poisoned liquid in Mary's well.
Mixed with salt
Crossed the oceans
Even through the Dead Sea
Even through the Red Sea
Landed on the white sands
And lapped back again
The way water will.
From the clouds
It dripped like rain
It fell like snow
Flakes
Hardened into ice
Melted
It flowed
Over rock after rock
Turned bends
Ran its run above ground and below
Without course
Through veins of every body.
